Children's interjection used to tease someone who has touched something considered dirty, or to ritually avoid contamination. Often accompanied by a hand gesture.
「うわっ、ゴミ箱さわった！えんがちょ！」
"Eww, you touched the trash can! Cooties!"
「えんがちょ、えんがちょ、うつらない！」と子どもたちがはやしたてた。
The kids chanted, "Engacho, engacho, don't pass it on!"
