Archaic term for a woman who worked as both a prostitute and an entertainer, similar to 浮かれ女 (うかれめ). Not used in modern Japanese.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だいの文ぶん献けんには「さぶる子こ」という言こと葉ばが遊ゆう女じょを指さして使つかわれている。

  In Edo-period documents, the word さぶる子 is used to refer to courtesans.
