A set phrase used to express that the outcome is the same regardless of whether an action is taken or not. Often follows a volitional verb form.

• 行いこうと行いくまいと、結けっ果かは同おなじだ。

  Whether you go or not, the result will be the same.

• 彼かれが来こようと来こまいと、会かい議ぎは予よ定てい通どおり始はじめる。

  Whether he comes or not, we'll start the meeting as scheduled.
