Archaic auxiliary verb indicating completion, attached to the ～ます stem of a verb. Equivalent to modern ～てしまう or ～た. Found in classical Japanese and occasionally in modern literary or formal contexts.

  The wind has risen; we must live.

• 花はな散ちりぬ。
