Archaic sentence-ending particle expressing desire. Attaches to the -nai stem of a verb (e.g., 行かばや = I want to go). Used in classical Japanese and occasionally in modern literary or poetic contexts.

Archaic sentence-ending particle indicating the speaker's intention or volition. Similar to modern ～よう or ～つもり, but with a classical flavor. Rare outside of historical texts or stylized writing.

• 明日あすは必かならず参まいらばや。

  I shall certainly go tomorrow.

Archaic particle expressing strong negation, often in the form あらばや. Conveys 'there is no way that...' or 'it is not at all the case that...'. Extremely rare; found only in classical texts.

• かかること、あらばやと思おもえひしに。

  I never thought such a thing would happen.
