polite auxiliary verb (archaic/formal)

Archaic or highly formal variant of ます, used to express respect toward the listener or reader. In modern Japanese, ます is used instead.

• 「お待まちしまする」は、古こ風ふうな言いい回まわしで、現げん代だいでは「お待まちします」と言いう。

  "お待ちしまする" is an old-fashioned expression; in modern Japanese, one says "お待ちします".
