A direct loanword from English, used in Japanese with the same meaning. Often appears in casual or trendy contexts, but can be used in business settings as well. Less common than native words like 重要 (じゅうよう) or 大切 (たいせつ).

• 彼かれはインポータントなクライアントだ。

  He is an important client.
