A philosophical term referring to the error of assigning a property to something that cannot have that property, or treating a concept as belonging to the wrong logical type. Used in academic contexts.

• 「この本ほんは重おもい」と言いうのは物ぶつ理り的てきな重おもさを指さすが、「この考かんがえは重おもい」と言いうのはカテゴリーミステークにあたる。

  Saying 'this book is heavy' refers to physical weight, but saying 'this idea is heavy' would be a category mistake.
