A specialized term from noh theatre, used by women to describe the resonant thumping sound of footsteps on the stage and, by extension, the acoustic space of the theatre. Rare outside noh contexts.

• 能のう楽がく堂どうで「ダクマダクマ」という足あし音おとが響ひびく。

  In the noh theatre, the thumping sound of footsteps called 'dakumadakuma' echoes.

• この舞ぶ台たいはダクマダクマがよく聞きこえる広ひろさだ。

  This stage is large enough that the 'dakumadakuma' can be heard clearly.
