Proverb used to assert that one's own household or group follows its own rules, and outside customs do not apply. Often said to children or to resist outside pressure.
「よそはよそ、うちはうち」と母は言って、お小遣いを増やしてくれなかった。
"Other families have their own ways; we have ours," my mother said, and didn't raise my allowance.
友達がみんなスマホを持っていても、よそはよそ、うちはうちだ。
Even if all my friends have smartphones, other families are other families, and ours is ours.
