Archaic term for a low crouching or squatting posture, sitting on one's heels. Not used in modern Japanese; the common modern equivalent is しゃがむ or うずくまる.

• 古こ文ぶん書しょには、武ぶ士しが尻こう座ざして待たい機きする様よう子すが描えがかれている。

  In old documents, warriors are depicted crouching and waiting.
