Archaic term for one's biological mother. In modern Japanese, 実母 (じつぼ) or 生みの母 (うみのはは) are used instead.

• 古ふるい文ぶん献けんでは、「母いろは」を「いろは」と読よませて実じつの母はは親おやを指さすことがある。

  In old texts, 母 is sometimes read as いろは to refer to one's biological mother.
