寒さで指が縮かんで、うまく動かせない。
My fingers are numb from the cold and I can't move them well.
Used for physical shrinkage, such as cloth or wood contracting, or figuratively for something becoming smaller. Less common than 縮む.
この布は水に濡れると縮かむことがある。
This cloth may shrink when it gets wet.
