Obsolete term for hanafuda playing cards. Replaced by 花札 (はなふだ) in modern Japanese.

• 江え戸ど時じ代だいには花か牌はいという言こと葉ばが使つかわれていたが、今いまでは花はな札ふだと呼よぶ。

  In the Edo period, the word 花牌 was used, but now it is called 花札.
