Obsolete term; formerly used as an abbreviation for the U.S. state of Washington. Modern Japanese uses ワシントン州.

• 戦せん前ぜんの地ち図ずには「華か州しゅう」と書かかれていることがある。

  On pre-war maps, you sometimes see 華州 written for Washington State.
