Describes a surface that is wet, slimy, or slippery to the touch. Often used for unpleasant sliminess, such as on fish, slugs, or damp surfaces. Can be used adverbially with と or as a する-verb.

Obsolete sense. Describes slow, perhaps slithering movement. Not used in modern Japanese; the common word for 'slowly' is ゆっくり.
古い文献では、ぬらぬらと動く様子が描かれることがある。
In old texts, a slowly moving manner is sometimes described as ぬらぬら.
