These terms are strictly religious and would sound out of place in non-Buddhist contexts. Do not use them to describe secular achievements or personal growth.
In Japanese Buddhism, the concept of Buddhahood is often discussed in terms of practice (成仏) or inherent nature (仏性). Choose the term based on whether you emphasize the process or the essence.
