Expresses the current point in a process, development, or time. Japanese uses various phrases depending on whether you mean 'at this point in time', 'at this phase of a project', or 'given the current situation'.
Referring to the present moment or current state of affairs, often implying things may change later.
Neutral and common. Literally 'at the present point in time'. Often used in news, business, or formal contexts.

Casual and very common. 'So far' or 'for now'. Implies the situation might change.

Formal, often used in project updates or official statements. Emphasizes the current phase of a process.

At this stage, the plan is progressing smoothly.
Direct translation of 'at this point'. Can be used in both formal and informal settings.

Referring to a specific step or milestone in a sequence of actions.
Natural for talking about stages in a plan, recipe, or development cycle.

Loanword from English 'phase'. Used in business or technical contexts, but less common than 段階.

現時点 (げんじてん) is more formal and often used in written reports or news. 今のところ (いまのところ) is conversational and implies 'so far, but things could change'. Both can translate 'at this stage' when referring to time.

Do not translate 'stage' as ステージ (sutēji) unless referring to a physical stage or a performance stage. For phases or points in time, use 段階 (だんかい) or 時点 (じてん).
