How to express that someone receives or is given something, often formally or as a right.
The subject is given a right, permission, privilege, or formal status.
Passive form of 与える (to give). Used when someone is granted something abstract like a right, opportunity, or permission.
彼にその権限が与えられた。
He was granted that authority.
市民に投票権が与えられる。
Citizens are granted the right to vote.
Passive of 認める (to recognize/approve). Implies official recognition or approval of a right or status.
A request, wish, or prayer is fulfilled or granted.
Passive of かなえる (to grant a wish). Used for wishes, dreams, or requests being fulfilled.
彼の願いがかなえられた。
His wish was granted.
やっと夢がかなえられた。
My dream was finally granted.
Someone is granted a physical object, money, or land, often officially.
Formal term for being awarded or granted something like a medal, degree, or prize.
彼に勲章が授与された。

Very formal, used when something is granted by an emperor or high authority.
English 'be granted' often corresponds to passive forms in Japanese, but the choice of verb depends heavily on what is granted. Using a generic '与えられる' for wishes sounds unnatural; use 'かなえられる' instead.
彼の功績が認められ、賞が与えられた。
His achievements were recognized and he was granted an award.
Formal, often used in legal or technical contexts for granting rights, licenses, or permissions.
