Idiom meaning 'outside the mosquito net', i.e., being left out of the loop or excluded from information/decisions.

Both mean being excluded, but 仲間外れ is more common and can be used for children or adults. のけ者 has a slightly stronger nuance of being singled out and cast aside, often with a sense of unfairness.
English 'left out' cannot be directly translated as 左の外 or similar. Always use the expressions above depending on the nuance.
