The speaker acknowledges what was just said but introduces a point that contrasts with or limits it.
A common, neutral way to say 'having said that' or 'that said'. It acknowledges the previous statement but introduces a contrasting point.
He is very talented. Having said that, he lacks experience.
Literally 'even if you say so', used to introduce a contrasting point. Slightly more conversational than とはいえ.
Used at the beginning of a sentence to mean 'however' or 'that said'. Often in written or formal contexts.
A more formal or literary version of とはいえ. Used in writing or formal speech.
とはいえ is used to partially concede the previous point while introducing a contrast. しかし simply marks a strong contrast without concession. Use とはいえ when you want to say 'yes, but...' rather than 'on the other hand'.
He is young. Having said that, he has a sense of responsibility.
It's certainly convenient, but having said that, it's way too expensive.
この計画は完璧に見える。もっとも、実行は難しいかもしれない。
This plan looks perfect. Having said that, it might be difficult to execute.
