Parchment paper is a heat-resistant, non-stick paper used in baking and cooking. In Japanese, it is most commonly referred to as クッキングシート, but other terms exist depending on context.

The non-stick, heat-resistant paper used for lining baking sheets, cake pans, etc.
The most common and widely understood term for parchment paper in a kitchen context. Used for baking, roasting, and general cooking.
天板にクッキングシートを敷いてください。
Please line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
クッキングシートを使うと、後片付けが楽です。
Using parchment paper makes cleanup easy.
Also common, especially in recipes and product packaging. Slightly more formal or technical than クッキングシート.

Do not use ワックスペーパー in place of parchment paper for baking; it will melt or burn.

Wax paper cannot be used in the oven.
Animal skin prepared for writing, historical documents.
Literal translation: sheepskin paper. Refers to historical parchment made from animal skin. Not used for modern baking paper.

In English, 'parchment paper' and 'wax paper' are distinct. In Japanese, クッキングシート is heat-resistant, while ワックスペーパー is not. Using ワックスペーパー in the oven can cause a fire.
