In Japanese, when the participant is obvious from context, the word is often omitted. For example, instead of saying 'Participants, please come this way,' you might simply say 'こちらへどうぞ' (This way, please).
参加者 is the most general. Use 出場者 for competitions and races, and 出席者 for meetings and classes where attendance is recorded.
