Translation guide
The English word "resort" has two main meanings: a place for vacation or recreation, and the act of turning to something as a final option. This guide covers both, with natural Japanese equivalents.
A place where people go for relaxation, recreation, or holidays, often with facilities like hotels, beaches, or ski slopes.
The most direct and common loanword for a vacation resort. Used for beach resorts, ski resorts, etc.
To do something that you do not want to do because you have no other choice, or to use something as a final course of action.
The phrase 'as a last resort' is often translated as 最終手段として (さいしゅうしゅだんとして) or 最後の手段として (さいごのしゅだんとして). Do not use リゾート for this meaning.
夏休みに沖縄のリゾートに行った。
I went to a resort in Okinawa for summer vacation.
Literally 'resort area/place'. Slightly more formal or descriptive than リゾート alone.
軽井沢は有名なリゾート地です。

Means 'to rely on' or 'to turn to'. Slightly less forceful than 訴える, can be used for depending on something as a resource.

He always resorts to his parents in the end.
Literally 'run to ~'. Implies rushing into an extreme or undesirable action. Often used with negative behaviors.
