A standing wave is a wave that oscillates in place, with nodes and antinodes, often formed by interference of two traveling waves. In Japanese, the standard term is 定常波 (ていじょうは), but 定在波 (ていざいは) is also used. For learners, the most common and recommended term is 定常波.
The general concept of a standing wave in physics, such as on a string or in an acoustic cavity.
The most common and standard term for standing wave in physics. Used in textbooks and academic contexts.
弦に定常波が生じた。
A standing wave formed on the string.
An alternative term for standing wave, less common than 定常波 but still used in some contexts.
