I would like ...; I want ...
Archaic sentence-final particle expressing a wish or desire. Typically follows the 〜て form of a verb (〜てしがな) or the particle に (〜にしがな). Found in classical Japanese texts; not used in modern speech.
「花咲かば、折りてしがな」と古歌にある。
An old poem says, 'If the flowers bloom, I would like to pick them.'
昔の人は「都へ行きにしがな」と願ったものだ。
People long ago would wish, 'I want to go to the capital.'
