欲ほしい

Expresses the speaker's desire for a thing. Not used directly for third-person desires; use 欲しがる instead.

  I want a new smartphone.

• 彼かれはお金かねを欲ほしがっている。

  He wants money. (using 欲しがる for third person)

Attached to the -te form of a verb to express the speaker's desire for someone else to perform an action. Usually written in kana.

• もっと早はやく来きてほしい。

  I want you to come earlier.

• 彼かれにこの本ほんを読よんでほしい。

  I want him to read this book.
