what the hell are you saying?; what are you talking about?

Kansai dialect phrase used to express disbelief, annoyance, or to call out nonsense. Equivalent to standard Japanese 何言ってるんだよ. Often used in a joking or confrontational tone.

• お前まえ、何なに言いうとんねん。そんなわけないやろ。

  What the hell are you saying? That can't be true.

• 何なに言いうとんねん、急きゅうにそんなこと言いわれても困こまるわ。

  What are you talking about? You're putting me on the spot saying that out of the blue.
