Literary or formal word for something that has continued from the previous night or happened overnight. In modern Japanese, 昨夜から or 一晩中 are more common.

• 夜や来らいの雨あめがようやく上あがった。

  The rain that had been falling since last night finally stopped.

• 夜や来らいの疲つかれが残のこっている。

  I still feel the fatigue from last night.
