A military command used in ceremonies or drills to salute by holding the rifle vertically in front of the body. Can also refer to the action itself.

Compound of 捧げ (sasage, continuative form of 捧げる 'to lift up, offer') and 銃 (tsutsu, archaic reading for 'gun'). The reading つつ for 銃 is an older form; the modern reading is じゅう.
