adverb, conjunction
incidentally; at the same time; while I'm at it
Used to add a secondary purpose or action to a main one, often in formal or written contexts. Similar to 'ついでに' but more literary.
散歩かたがた、郵便局に寄ってきた。
I dropped by the post office while taking a walk.
ご挨拶かたがた、新製品のご案内を
While I'm here to greet you, I'd also like to introduce our new product.
More casual and common than かたがた; used for doing something extra while already doing something else.
Derived from the noun 方 (かた, 'side, direction') reduplicated, with the sense of 'on the side' or 'incidentally'. The kanji 旁 means 'side' or 'beside'.
