Dated term for something that exists or happens on its own, without human intervention. Often contrasted with artificial or man-made. In modern Japanese, 自然 (しぜん) is more common for 'nature' or 'natural', while じねん carries a more philosophical or traditional nuance.
この森はじねんのままの姿を残している。
This forest remains in its naturally occurring state.
昔の人は、物事がじねんに成るのを待った。
