ku-adjective (archaic)
Classical Japanese adjective (ku-adjective) meaning 'quiet' or 'silent'. Used in poetry and pre-modern texts. Modern equivalent is 静か (しずか).
万葉集に「静けしこの夜」と詠まれている。
In the Man'yōshū, it is composed as 'quiet is this night'.
古文では「静けし」は「静かなり」と同じ意味で使われた。
In classical Japanese, 'shizukeshi' was used with the same meaning as 'shizukanari'.
