直じき披ひ

Written on the outside of a letter to indicate it is personal and should be opened only by the addressee. Used in formal or traditional correspondence.

• 封ふう筒とうに「直じき披ひ」と書かいてある手て紙がみは、本ほん人にん以い外がいが開あけてはいけない。

  A letter marked '直披' on the envelope should not be opened by anyone other than the addressee.

• 昔むかしの手て紙がみには、よく「直じき披ひ」や「親しん展てん」といった言こと葉ばが使つかわれた。
