訃ふ音おん

A formal, somewhat literary term for a death notice or obituary. In modern Japanese, 訃報 (ふほう) is far more common.

• 新しん聞ぶんで旧きゅう友ゆうの訃ふ音おんに接せっした。

  I learned of my old friend's passing through the newspaper.

• 訃ふ音おん欄らんに彼かれの名なを見みつけて驚おどろいた。

  I was shocked to find his name in the obituary column.
