わ～わOne thing after another
This pattern dramatically piles up two or more striking events or states. It often conveys exasperation, excitement, or a sense that everything happened at once.
How it works
Each わ follows a complete verb, adjective, or noun-based ending. The clauses should describe parallel facts whose accumulation justifies a strong reaction or overall evaluation. English translations often use “on top of that,” “not only,” or simply an emphatic list.
An exasperating pileup
引っ越し当日は、荷物は届かないわ、電気はつかないわ、散々だった。
On moving day, the luggage did not arrive, the electricity would not come on—it was a complete disaster.

Positive excitement
新しい部屋は広いわ、日当たりはいいわ、駅にも近いわ、すぐに気に入った。
The new apartment was spacious, sunny, and close to the station—I liked it immediately.

Different kinds of endings
Verbs, adjectives, and noun-based endings can all appear, provided that the clauses form a vivid parallel list.
準備は不十分だわ、説明も曖昧だわ、この計画には賛成できない。
The preparations are inadequate, and the explanation is vague—I cannot support this plan.
Analyze会場は満員だわ、ロビーも人だらけだわ、入る前から圧倒された。
The venue was packed, and even the lobby was full of people—I felt overwhelmed before I had even gone in.
Analyze朝から鍵をなくしたわ、バスに乗り遅れたわ、今日はついていない。
Since this morning, I have lost my keys and missed the bus. Today is just not my day.
AnalyzeChoosing among similar lists
わ～わ dramatizes the pileup itself. わ～わで more explicitly packages the listed circumstances as reasons for a resulting situation. やら～やら can portray a mixed list with less strongly conversational drama, while し is the more neutral choice for accumulating ordinary reasons or qualities.
