それでもEven so; nevertheless

それでも accepts the previous fact as true but says that the next fact still holds despite that obstacle. It often corresponds to “even so,” “nevertheless,” or “still.”

How it works

それ points back to the situation just mentioned. The speaker does not deny or correct that situation; instead, それでも means that the next decision, state, or result survives it. The first statement must therefore give a real reason to expect the opposite of the second.

Decisions and continuing results

The second sentence may describe a deliberate choice or simply a fact that remains true.

The price is a little high. Even so, I’ll book this hotel.

Analyze

The high price is accepted as a reason not to book, but the decision remains unchanged.

It is still raining. Nevertheless, the game is continuing.

Analyze

Here the second sentence reports a continuing situation rather than personal determination.

In conversation

A

I hear it’ll be very crowded tomorrow.

Analyze
B

Even so, I’d like to go and see.

Analyze

The second speaker accepts the warning but keeps the original desire.

Choosing a contrasting connective

でも is a lighter conversational “but” and does not always imply persistence through an obstacle. しかし gives a broad, deliberate contrast or correction. それなのに emphasizes that the outcome violates an expectation and often suggests disappointment or frustration. Choose それでも when the key idea is that the second fact remains true despite the accepted obstacle.
