Common term for the Basque region. 地方 (ちほう) means 'region' or 'area'.
バスク地方はスペインとフランスにまたがっています。
The Basque Country straddles Spain and France.
Literally 'Basque Country'. Used in political or formal contexts, but can be ambiguous as it is not a sovereign state.
バスク国は自治権を求めています。
The Basque Country seeks autonomy.
Describing something as Basque (culture, food, etc.).
Use バスク + の to modify nouns. This is the most natural way to form the adjective.
バスクの料理はとても美味しいです。
Basque cuisine is very delicious.
バスクの伝統的な踊りを見ました。
I saw a traditional Basque dance.
English uses 'Basque' directly as an adjective (e.g., 'Basque culture'), but Japanese requires the particle の after バスク to connect it to a noun. Saying バスク文化 without の is unnatural.
