気が合う is the most common and natural way to say 'on the same wavelength' in daily conversation. 波長が合う is a bit more literal and can sound slightly more formal or metaphorical. Both are widely understood.
The literal translation '同じ波長にいる' is not natural Japanese. Use the idiomatic expressions above instead.
彼とは気が合う。
He and I are on the same wavelength.
初めて会ったのに、すごく気が合った。
Even though we met for the first time, we really hit it off.
A more literal translation of 'wavelength,' but still natural. Slightly more formal or metaphorical than 気が合う.
彼女とは波長が合う。
She and I are on the same wavelength.
Literally 'conversation matches,' used when you find you have a lot to talk about and share interests or opinions.
彼とは話が合って、時間を忘れた。
We were so on the same wavelength that we lost track of time.
A more explicit way to say 'our ways of thinking are similar.' Less idiomatic but clear.

A four-character idiom meaning 'heart-to-heart communication' or 'tacit understanding.' Often used for close friends, couples, or teams.

Those two are on the same wavelength; they understand each other without words.
Literally 'understand even without saying.' A straightforward way to say you're so in sync that words aren't necessary.
