The formal medical diagnosis
Standard clinical term for body dysmorphic disorder.
彼は身体醜形障害と診断された。
He was diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder.
Older or less formal term, sometimes used in general contexts.

Explaining the experience without clinical terms
Literally 'to be excessively fixated on one's appearance'. Natural way to describe the behavior.
彼女は自分の外見に過剰にこだわっている。
She is excessively fixated on her appearance.
Means 'to worry too much about perceived flaws in appearance'.
彼は見た目の欠点を気にしすぎている。
He worries too much about his perceived flaws.
In casual conversation, Japanese speakers may describe the behavior rather than use the clinical term. Phrases like 外見を気にしすぎる (worrying too much about appearance) are more common.
