Literally 'oil bug', an old or dialectal term for cockroach. Rarely used in modern standard Japanese; may be misunderstood as aphid.
In most contexts, アブラムシ means 'aphid', not cockroach. Avoid using this unless you are sure of the regional usage.
地方によってはゴキブリをアブラムシと呼ぶこともある。
In some regions, cockroaches are called aburamushi.
