While 有名な人 (yuumei na hito) is grammatically correct, it sounds like 'a person who is famous' rather than a natural term. Use 有名人 instead.
有名人 is a general 'famous person' from any field. 芸能人 specifically means someone in the entertainment industry. If you're talking about a movie star, 芸能人 is more precise.

She appears on variety shows as a popular TV personality.
