The main Japanese meaning is a person who appears on television, radio, variety shows, commercials, etc. It is narrower and more media-industry-specific than English “talent.”

An English-like use referring to ability or skill. In ordinary Japanese, 才能 is often the more natural word; タレント in this sense is more likely in business, management, or loanword-heavy contexts.
