Translation guide
The central or most important person in an organization, operation, or scheme. In Japanese, the translation depends heavily on context: a crime boss, a key figure in a project, or a mechanical pivot pin.

親分 implies an overt, recognized leader within a hierarchical group, while 黒幕 suggests a hidden manipulator. Use 親分 for a visible boss and 黒幕 for a shadowy mastermind.
Do not translate 'kingpin' literally as 王のピン or similar. It will not be understood. Choose the appropriate term based on context.
