Means 'course' and is used for a specific marked run or trail. Often combined with a difficulty level or name.
Literally 'skiing course', a more formal or technical term for a designated run.
滑走コース外に出ないでください。
Please do not go off-piste.
ゲレンデ often refers to the whole ski area or a wide slope, while コース is a specific marked trail. In casual conversation, ゲレンデ is more common for 'piste'.
あのゲレンデにはたくさんのコースがある。
That ski area has many pistes.
The English term 'off-piste' is often translated as コース外 (off-course) or 管理区域外 (outside the managed area). Do not use ピステ directly; it is not a common loanword in Japanese.
コース外滑走は禁止されています。
Off-piste skiing is prohibited.
The advanced piste has many steep slopes.
