Sodium carbonate is a chemical compound. In Japanese, it is most commonly referred to as 炭酸ナトリウム (tansan natoriumu). This is the standard term used in chemistry, industry, and everyday contexts. There is also a traditional name, 炭酸ソーダ (tansan sōda), but it is less common today.
