You can use the wireless LAN for free at this hotel.
Very common in everyday speech, even when not strictly referring to Wi-Fi certified devices. Often used interchangeably with wireless LAN.
Wi-Fiのパスワードを教えてください。
Please tell me the Wi-Fi password.
Less common than 無線LAN, but still understood. More direct loanword from English.
ワイヤレスLANの設定方法を教えてください。
Please tell me how to set up the wireless LAN.
Shortened forms used in conversation or informal writing
Literally 'wireless', but in context can mean wireless LAN. May be ambiguous, so use only when the context is clear.
無線がつながらないんだけど。
The wireless isn't connecting.
In everyday Japanese, 'Wi-Fi' (ワイファイ) is often used even when the network is not technically Wi-Fi. It's widely understood and acceptable in casual contexts.
