かのごとくに

as if; as though

Literary or formal expression used after a verb to describe a hypothetical or metaphorical situation. Often interchangeable with かのように, but かの如くに can sound more classical or written.

• 彼かれは何なにも知しらぬかの如ごとくに振ふる舞まった。

  He acted as if he knew nothing.

• 風かぜが泣なくかの如ごとくに吹ふき荒あれた。

  The wind raged as though it were crying.
