as if; as though

Follows a verb or clause and creates a simile or hypothetical comparison. Often used with ～かのようだ, ～かのような, or ～かのように.

• 彼かれはまるで何なにも知しらなかったかのように振ふる舞まった。

  He acted as if he knew nothing.

• 彼かの女じょはまるで天てん使しが舞まい降おりたかのような笑え顔がおを見みせた。

  She gave a smile as though an angel had descended.
