A Turkic ethnic group mainly in Qinghai and Gansu, China. In Japanese, usually referred to as サラ族.
The Salar people are one of the ethnic minorities in China.
Chinese-derived kanji spelling; rarely used in Japanese.
From Salar endonym Salar, via Chinese 撒拉 (Sālā) or direct borrowing. The Japanese form サラ族 combines サラ (Sara) with 族 (zoku, 'ethnic group').
